
MACALAS (ma-KAL-es) was formed in 2023 by three accomplished Connecticut musicians: Bruce MacPherson (Keyboards), Bill Calabrese (Bass, guitar, and vocals), and Dave Las (Drums, percussion, and vocals). This talented trio delivers a captivating arena rock concert experience as they authentically recreate the music of iconic bands such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Moody Blues, Electric Light Orchestra, Procol Harum, Phil Collins, King Crimson, Tears For Fears, Traffic, and others. In addition to these classic hits, MACALAS also incorporates some of their original songs into their live shows, which have quickly become fan favorites.

Mac is a NYC-based multi keyboardist and composer, known for his well-rounded musicianship and diverse musical background. A graduate of Hartt School of Music, Mac has played in popular bands like Blue Mountain Band, Earth, MTR, and The Stem Cells, contributing significantly to the material that was performed. His work reflects influences from greats like Emerson Lake and Palmer and the Moody Blues, capturing the essence of an arena rock concert.
As the Musical Director and Keyboardist for Lesley Gore and on The Dana Carvey Show (ABC Prime Time), he showcased his talents, earning an Emmy Award for music for the PBS Special “Saving Springer.” Driven by a love of performance and a desire to keep the multi keyboardist tradition alive, Mac has created MACALAS to further explore musicianship and showmanship, while also drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Tears For Fears.
Bill is a versatile musician with 30 years of experience performing in a variety of bands. He is best known for his work with Connecticut Transit Authority, a Chicago tribute band that captures the essence of arena rock concerts, as well as Capricorn, which pays homage to the Allman Brothers. Additionally, he has toured with the renowned Chicago blues artist Kal David, showcasing his skills on bass and vocals, and has drawn inspiration from iconic bands like Emerson Lake and Palmer, the Moody Blues, and even Tears For Fears.
Las is both a student and a teacher of drumming, whose passion for drums ignited at a very young age. For over five decades, he has performed with some of New England's best musicians and bands, including those influenced by iconic acts like Emerson Lake and Palmer and the Moody Blues. He dedicated many years to studying with three renowned Connecticut drum instructors - Eddie Montana, Al Lepac, and Bob Gatzen. Recently, he has held down the drum seat in Connecticut Transit Authority, a celebrated Chicago tribute band, and has had the honor of performing with the great Kal David (of Illinois Speed Press & Fabulous Rhinestones) during his last New England tour, showcasing his skills that resonate with the energy of an arena rock concert, much like the unforgettable performances of Tears For Fears and MACALAS.
